About Me and My Practice
I have been a licensed therapist since 2005. For several years I worked with different school districts, helping children with ADHD, social issues, learning disabilities, anxiety, and depression through both counseling and the IEP process. In 2008 I opened my private practice. I have been with Creekside Counseling Associates since then, and I have been grateful to be a part of this excellent group of therapists. While most of my work has focused on children, I find great satisfaction in helping adults through times of anxiety or depression, and I enjoy working with teenagers and helping them find their way into adulthood. I am also trained in the Prepare/Enrich program, which I use in a set of sessions for premarital couples. I enjoy being able to use shared Christian beliefs in counseling. I also respect that many clients have other beliefs, and I only use techniques that you as the client are willing to consider.
I believe anyone can benefit from therapy. Seeing a therapist means you are willing to ask for help in dealing with the overwhelming circumstances that sometimes come your way. We all face times of anxiety and depression, and a little professional guidance can help us not just survive these times, but come through them with a better understanding of others and of ourselves. I particularly believe that giving this healing space to children is beneficial; treating issues early can minimize potential problems in the future. I believe everyone deserves to have their experiences and emotions treated with respect and empathy.
